Network, Server, and Website SLA

At PowerDNN, we always strive for the absolute highest level of service for our customers. We always do everything in our power to ensure that business continues as usual. Because there are different aspects to hosting, there are different types of SLAs for our three main components: Networks, Servers, and Websites. As with all things, the more control that we have over the environment, more our Uptime SLAs are able to cover.

Network Uptime SLA
The PowerDNN Network is designed for business critical usage and is designed to meet the highest uptime SLA standards. Because we are in complete control over the network infrastructure, all servers on our network have a 100% network uptime guarantee. This means that we always guarantee our network to be up and online 100% of the time, except for brief, scheduled upgrades. These core updates usually happen only once per year, usually take less than 5 seconds, and we always notify our customers in advance.

Server Uptime SLA
PowerDNN Servers are designed for maximum reliability and uptime which exactly why we use high quality, DELL servers. However, unlike a network, servers are unable to obtain 100% uptime simply because they require constant updating and patching which often requires reboots due to Microsoft Updates. In order to mitigate the impact of Microsoft security updates, our servers are scheduled to apply updates and reboot between 1:00AM-3:00AM in the local time zone of the server.

Shared Server Uptime SLA
Shared Server Uptime SLA With all of our shared hosting servers, we closely monitor their performance, utilization, and uptime. In the rare event that a service or component malfunctions, our engineers are notified almost immediately and can begin resolving the issue.

Dedicated Server Uptime SLA
Customers with dedicated servers have complete control of their uptime and can create their own patching and reboot schedules. If a server is utilizing our advanced monitoring, in the event that you bring your server down, our engineers will be notified and will begin investigating your issue. Because dedicated server customers do have complete administrator control over their server, we are not able to provide a server uptime SLA. For example, if a dedicated server customer uninstalls critical windows components, the server is going to have problems.

Website Uptime SLA
As with dedicated servers, we give our shared hosting customers as much control as possible over their DotNetNuke websites. The advantage to this is that all of our customers get complete HOST access to their DotNetNuke website and can install and use any third party modules, however, the disadvantage to this is that customers also have the ability to crash their own website. The most common example of a customer accidentally crashing their own website involves using poorly designed third party modules. When you install a third party module, the module integrates itself into your DotNetNuke website. If the module is poorly coded or malfunctions, then it is possible for a module to bring down your entire website. The easiest way to avoid this problem is to ensure that you always use high quality modules from reputable vendors.
